According to Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union, what is the correct procedure for a Member State to withdraw from the Union?

The Member State notifies the European Council of its intention; the withdrawal agreement is concluded by the Council acting by a qualified majority after obtaining the consent of the European Parliament, and the Treaties cease to apply two years after notification unless extended unanimously by the European Council in agreement with the Member State.

The Treaties cease to apply one year after the notification referred to in paragraph 2, unless the European Council decides unanimously to extend this period.
